Frankenstein's Face Lab

We are creating an Identikit system using video clips rather than static images. It will display a deliberately crude composite face built up out of slices from a number of faces. We're exploring different ways of compositing the face clips, to find a happy trade off between aesthetic and technical considerations.

The system will have at least two components:

  1. A Web-based UI that will allow a user to select which region of the face they wish to work on, and then to populate that region with one of the available face components
  2. A Flash-based display system that will project the composite face on to a wall, screen or other surface

..which will be connected via a PTTP queuing framework. The UI component will not show the finished face, to emphasis the separate nature of these two systems.

If time allows, we might add the ability to mix in a live video stream from a Webcam, to add local colour to the pool of facial components.
