**Control of Installations by the Audience**

PTTP provides a standard protocol and framework for the public to control installations in public spaces. An installation might be a fountain, light show, screen, dynamic sculpture or pretty much anything that offers interactive control. Control might be via a mobile phone, wireless laptop, PDA, motion sensors and/or any other gizmo. PTTP allows users to queue up for control of the installation to give everyone a fair slice of the action, rather than a free-for-all battle for control.

Installation designers can use PTTP to simplify their development effort and make it both possible and easy for other contributors to construct novel user interfaces.

Interactive installations help people to feel part of the environment. People realise that they can have an effect on the world around them - it isn't just something that happens to them.
